Black Lives Matter

“What matters in life is to take a stand. There will be situations in life where we must take a stand. If we do not take a stand, then we will fall down in our own eyes. Let us take a stand for what is right. And let us raise our voice against injustice.”
-Avijeet Das

Not one person in this world should be deserving of less simply because of their skin color

Less rights.

Less opportunities.

Less safety.

Less love, kindness, peace, and respect.

The lack of compassion towards others in the United States has gone on for far too long.

Even after decades of fighting for their place in this country, there is somehow still an argument surrounding the statement that black lives matter.

It is such a clear message yet people still refuse to put aside their pride and see the issue for what it is.

Of course all lives matter.

Nobody ever said they didn't.

But dismissing the BLM movement is a refusal to acknowledge that black people in America have ALWAYS been treated as if they matter LESS.

I recognize my privilege to be able to learn about their experiences second-hand rather than live through it myself. Because of this, I am not afraid to speak on injustices like the murder of George Floyd. I know that there is power in our voices as systematically privileged people to help in the fight against racism in the United States of America.

I stand with the black community because we SHARE this country.

We live TOGETHER on this planet Earth.

It is not anymore mine than it is theirs.

They deserve to be here too.
